Boat inventory

General 1 Comment »

This morning I got into the boat and started my dreaded list of items I need for the upcoming season.  I went through all my boxes and bags and looked at what I use compared to what I haul around.

My list is not as big as other years.  Most of the items are things I need are terminal tackle.  Plastics I don't have to worry about thanks to Cache Custom Lures and Poor Boys Baits. Items like hooks, line and weights are an issue so I am going to do a little research and see hwat I can find.

So I will be internetting the rest of the night.

Boating for Juniors

General No Comments »

I had to be at the launch at 5:45 in order to be a boater for the kids.  Yesterday I got a package of lures from Poor Boys Baits that I am going to use for handouts.  I gave the kids a package in the morning.

I was captain for a pair of kids that have not had a very good year.  Both of them were in need of a fish to keep their spirits up.  Ashley and Eion were fishless this year.  I kind of get those kids and make certain they pull in some fish.

The wind was pretty strong and I decided earlt that we were not going to run all the way down the lake to the fish that I was on last weekend.  So I started by heading up Hollow Creek.  We stopped at a few places that always put out fish, usually not big ones but keepers.  Eion was having a hard time connecting.  He missed 7 fish during the day.  Ashley missed 2.  But We ended up pulling up to a bunch of trees that I had dragged into the water from an island and there were a few fish on it.

Ashley put the first keeper in the boat and then Eion put one that was so close that I dumped it into the live well and gave it a ride.  Then Eion put another keeper in the boat.

We ended up throwing back his first fish at the end of the day.  It just would not reach the 12" mark.

Ashley took 3rd place and Eion took 4th and we had a great day.  We got a picture of the kids holding up there lures and they will send a thank you note that I will forward to Kim at Poor Boys Baits.

Drive Day

General No Comments »

I drove over to Herman's to pick up the 5th wheel.  I had to take it to Lavonia GA to get a few things fixed and ready for next season.

The drive was long and boring but I made it there dropped it off and drove back home.

Getting closer

General No Comments »

Today I went back upstairs and I finished mudding everything that could be mudded on the first time through.  We will have a small zone were were tear out the portion of the ceiling and have to finish those walls.  But it all has a singe coat right now.

It is pretty much sanded down enough for the top coat to go on.  There will be a few areas that will need more applications but it is getting close.

The closet in the hall has been the access to the stair case but we got done with the mudding so we removed the section of wall in the living room that will be the new entrance to the stairwell.

We may be apinting some time next week.

Day one of the new season

General No Comments »

Even though it is only Nov 4th it is still the official first day of the new season.  You see today was the day I could register for the FLW Tour.

I called in to FLW and did my co-angler spots for the Tour.  I put my $200 deposit on each of the 6 tournies.

Then I had to do a little technical work for the Wife.  I work on some .htaccess files and did a few other items to help out.

This took me to 3:00 and then I decided to head out hunting again.  I set up my stand near a spot that I got a couple of deer from last year.  I did not see anything but I heard one come in when it was dark.

I got home and after diner I went at my laptop.  It has been  bugging me for a few weeks now so I wiped it out and re-formated it and am just getting it to a running condition now.  I still have to add all my programs tomorrow.

A little play today

General No Comments »

I went upstairs and finished off all the mudding I could and then started sanding. Now that is a really good time. Not.

I worked until 2:00 and then took my boat back over to the garage.  After that I cam back and grabbed my gun and went looking for a deer.

I have not been at the WMA since last year so I just walked around looking for sign.  I had the wind in my favor and just kept looking around.  I did not see anything but will keep trying until I put some deer in the freezer.

I am getting close to finding a boat and truck wrap sponsor.  I have 2 very good leads and we are in constant communication.  It is the correct time for an angler to do this but sponsors are all looking for the new year to do all this.  So I am trying to educate them on an anglers time frame.  If it works it will be good.

A day off with the Wife

General No Comments »

We got up this morning and had breakfast but could not decide on what to do.  We kept asking each other what to do and finally came up with a drive to Congaree Swamp National Park.  It is on the other side of town and it has a boardwalk that runs through the swamp on a trail.

So we ventured out there took a 2.5 mile walk and just took in the nice day.

when we got back home we started on the 2009 season.  We added it to our calendars and looked up each lake and found a campsite for them.  We just finished and it is 11:30.  A lot of lakes and a ton of new campgrounds.

Next year is going to be great.

Not upstairs

General No Comments »

Friday is a day off from work.  I had to run over to the old house and get it tip top for a realtors open house this Sunday.  I knew I would have to rake up a bunch of pine needles from the wind we had this week.  And boy was I right the yard was a lovely red color.  I raked it all up and placed it in the flower beds.  I then proceeded to clean up anything else that needed it and then hooked up to the boat.

I had to get ready for the last TBF of SC tournament of the year on Murray.  So I backed it up beside the house and started pulling line and re-spooling.

From last Friday I had an ambush pattern going on with some fish in the 8 foot range.

I got everything ready and will head out tomorrow for the tourny.

More mud

General No Comments »

I put about 9 hours of mudding in today.  I went through close to 6 gallons of mud and it is just about done.  At least the first coat.  Now I have to finish the last few sections and then it is a bunch of sanding.  After that it gets the top coat and that should be it.

I did talk to David Ittner of Yamaha this evening and I will make an announcement hopefully some time this week.

Mud, Mud, Mud, Mud…

General No Comments »

Take a guess what I did today. Iwent upstairs and mudded for 8 hours.

  • Mom- mudding is putting drywall joint compound on all the seams and screw heads to make a smooth finish.

Dave worked on the electrical system and we should have power to one half of the upstairs tomorrow.

Other than that I installed a network printer in the house so everyone can print remotely from their laptops.
