Mayfly Hatch
General, Training August 9th, 2007I did my normal routing this morning ran to the dock I practice on, I noticed it looked a little different today. It was covered in mayflies. We had a hatch this morning and that dock looked like it had brown shag carpeting covering it.
The pack was there still. Not doing any chasing just cruising around.
The training started off really strong. The dock I am worknig has 3 major gaps between the floats about 18 inches wide and 6 inches off the water. A small 2 inch wide gap in a corner and them a small overhang in the back. My routing for pitching is hit gaps 1,2,3, then hole ,then overhang. The dock is 4 feet wide and to counbt as a good pitch it has to reach all the way through. I think right off hte bat I hit 24 in a row going through the routine then it stated going down hill. But that is why I am training so I can hit 100 in a row no errors.
I am also working the roll skip into the routine. I had a small swim bait on and it was not the easiest to use.
The opposite is getting much better. It is not only the coordination thing but just the strength of using that opposite arm.
At the end of this mornings session I was going by a new dock that had 8 gaps and only 4 inches of clearance and I went right down the dock and hit every one except the biggest one.
Did my weight routine today - Chest Tri’s and lower back
