trigger a strike and other useful things.
We have compiled tips into

many individual tips fit into more than one category, they are
sometimes repeated.
Also listed are individual
tips for a specific topic.

BOAT
TIPS |
| When your favorite lake
starts getting hammered, and your fish have shut off. Try downsizing
your lure and keeping it in front of him longer. |
If you are flippin? and
pitchin' plastics in weeds try pegging your sinkers with "Peg Its",
toothpicks, or a rubber band. It will keep you in better contact with
your lure. |
Instead of dragging out your
50? boat line, make up a six foot one with loops on both ends. It will
be quicker and easier for tying up to a dock. |

SPONSORSHIP |
LOG
BOOK |
| If you want to try something
new, get a can of reel and line lubricant. Spray it on your reel and
you will notice a difference in distance and smoothness. |
Everyone wants a sponsor.
The best way to do this is by getting to know your local bait and
tackle dealer. He can be a valuable link to reps and companies. |
If you are not already using
a logbook, start one this season. You can write down as much detail as
you like for every trip, and be able to look at it next year for ideas
and areas. |
| FINICKY |
LURE
COLORS |
DIVERSIFIED |
| Sometimes the fish get a
little finicky. All they might need is a touch bit of color added to
the end of the lure with a plastic bait marker or maybe add an eyeball
to your lure with a marker. |
As a basic guide to colors,
use dark colors (purple, black, red) in murky water. If the water is
clear use more natural colors ( browns, greens, and the seed colors)
Remember this is only a guide. |
Yes you can catch some fish
on the same lure some times. Nevertheless, try to learn a different
technique or style every year. Fishing is a learning experience and the
more you know the better you will be. |
