First day of full practice on Okeechobee
I went out of the Kissimee this morning and went to a spot that we hit a month ago and hit 3 three pounders right off the bat. So I decided to go back a little further and I ran her into a sand bar. I didn’t hit hard but she stuck good. So I got her off that little island and headed back a little further and fished a while.
The water was not what I was looking for so I found a place that I could get her on plane and head out toward the main lake. Here I had a choice take a small boat canal left or right. I could see the main lake just ahead through the reeds/weeds so I decided to go straight. I made it about 40 yards before I lost bite with my prop and came to a stop.
I had 70 yards a head of me and 40 behind of thick matted vegetation. It took me 2 hours to get out of that spot.
After that I went to an area that had bedding fish in it last time. There were still some fish present but not as big or aggressive. I will have to keep an eye on it to see if anything larger comes in.
Then the rest of the day was spent running to areas only to find no water in them. I guess my best 5 would have gone 10-11 pounds
